Cultivate a Sense of Belonging

Original Methods to cultivate a sense of belonging and connection, and feel supported

Here are some ways to make yourself feel firmly

rooted and at home on this planet:

• doing an activity you used to enjoy as a child but have long forgotten: drawing, shaping plasticine, playing with a Barbie doll or a toy truck, going for a swing on the playground, making a sand castle.

And watching how that innocent part of you that’s been dormant all those years comes ALIVE.

• visiting places where you used to live or study decades ago, seeing how much you’ve grown, and how small they seem now from this height.

• writing a list of things & people who have supported you in your life: starting from your childhood caretakers and finishing with the sofa or chair you’re sitting on.

  • using journalling as a method for connecting with yourself and making yourself feel loved, understood and cared for. Here are some self-compassion journalling prompts to get you started.

forgiveness of self and others, if you’re able to forgive them - this isn’t about letting the culprit ‘off the hook’, it’s about you allowing yourself relief from those thoughts and moving on to a new state of mind.

soulful meditations, that make you feel vividly present and safe in your body and in the present moment ✨

And anything else (within reason) your Inner Child expresses a need for - it could be

- calling someone you’ve not spoken to for years;

- going to a new place you’ve always thought would be worth a visit, but not got around to yet;

OR

- Just sitting in peace and silence for a few moments not doing anything - not even meditating - to see what happens when you just stop…

With love
